Custom-Built ISPM-15 Timber Crating
Standard, off-the-shelf pallets are entirely inadequate for heavy natural stone. For all cut-to-size orders, tiles, and bespoke architectural pieces, we construct custom-built, heavy-duty timber crates in-house. We exclusively use heat-treated, fumigated wood that strictly complies with ISPM-15 international regulations, guaranteeing smooth clearance through UK customs without quarantine delays. The interior of every crate is meticulously lined with high-density polystyrene foam to absorb shock and vibration. Individual polished tiles are packed face-to-face with soft, non-abrasive interleaving films to completely eliminate any risk of surface scratching during transit.
Moisture Control and Container Bracing
Ocean freight exposes cargo to significant temperature fluctuations, which can lead to condensation and moisture build-up inside the container—a serious threat to certain natural stones. We combat this by sealing our crates with industrial-grade shrink wrap and including powerful moisture-absorbing desiccants within the container. Finally, the loading process itself is a highly engineered operation. Our logistics team carefully calculates weight distribution and utilises heavy-duty timber bracing and industrial air bags to lock every crate firmly in place.
