Protecting Your UK Project from Substandard Material
Importing natural stone sight-unseen carries inherent risks. In the highly regulated and exacting UK construction sector, dimensional inaccuracies, poor surface finishing, or hidden structural flaws in natural stone can lead to catastrophic project delays, escalated labour costs, and ultimately, rejected materials on site. At Marble Companies UK, we view rigorous quality control not as an optional extra, but as the fundamental core of our export business. We completely remove the risk of importing from Turkey by implementing a strict, multi-point inspection protocol that guarantees every single slab, tile, and bespoke piece of masonry strictly adheres to demanding British architectural standards.
Millimetre-Perfect Dimensional Calibration
A beautifully veined piece of marble is entirely useless to a UK contractor if it is not cut squarely or if the thickness varies from tile to tile. Uneven thickness forces UK stonemasons to heavily adjust adhesive beds, massively slowing down the installation process and compromising the final level of the floor. Our Turkish production lines are equipped with advanced, automated multi-head calibration machinery. This technology ensures absolutely uniform thickness across every single piece of stone we process. Our QA team uses digital callipers to continuously verify that length, width, and thickness tolerances are kept to strict millimetre perfection.
Advanced Surface Inspection and Epoxy Treatments
Certain highly desirable natural stones, such as heavily veined grey marbles or classic porous travertines, possess natural vulnerabilities. Before these stones are polished, they undergo advanced structural treatments in our factory. We apply premium, deep-penetrating epoxy resins in vacuum chambers to fill microscopic voids, and adhere high-tensile fibreglass mesh to the back of fragile slabs. Once polished, every surface is visually inspected under high-intensity, raking LED light banks to detect any hidden hairline fractures, dull spots, or filling imperfections. Only stone that passes this flawless visual check is approved for UK export.
ISPM-15 Export Packaging and Final Sign-Off
Quality control does not end when the stone is cut; it extends to how it is protected during its 3,000-mile journey to the UK. We inspect every custom-built timber crate to ensure it strictly complies with ISPM-15 fumigation standards, preventing any quarantine issues with UK Border Force. The stone is packed using non-abrasive interleaving films to prevent surface friction, and heavily braced within the shipping container. A final, comprehensive photographic report of the loaded container is sent to the UK buyer, providing total peace of mind that their premium investment has been handled with the utmost professional care.
